The four main qualities of diamonds are the 4 Cs.
–CUT, CARAT WEIGHT, CLARITY, COLOUR–

CARAT WEIGHT

Carat is the unit weight of diamonds. One carat equals 0.2 grams. It is important to know that diamonds of the same weight cannot be the same size.

COLOUR

The colour of a diamond is a measure of the degree of transparency. This classification is given by a colour scale ranging from D to Z, D being the most colourless level and Z the more yellowish and therefore, the lower value.

FANCY DIAMONDS

Fancy or coloured diamonds are those that exceed the Z grade in colour scale for colourless diamonds. For this reason such diamonds are more valued, because of the intensity and purity of colour. These diamonds are cut to maximize the colour, why it is common to see additional facets.

CLARITY

Clarity refers to the purity.
The amount of impurities present both inside and on the surface of the diamond and its location will influence in the grade of clarity and in its value.
